The Book of Acts

I am reading through the Book of Acts during my devotional time. When one contrasts the early church with today's church it is amazing how many things we do now are based on man's traditions. I am trying to consider why we "do" things they way we do. Is it because we want so much for the Lord's name to be praised and honored, or is it for another reason. I believe bible-believing churches sincerely love the Lord and want to worship Him, however sometimes what is done is a little shallow. For example, when we pray in church, do we His chosen vessels, hold back from fervently crying out to the Lord? Do we understand, identify, and believe He is Sovereign when we pray? When we sing praises to His name, do we understand that the audience is not each other, but instead the Lord seated on the Right Hand of the Father?
